Etiology and pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes mellitus
Hernando Rafael
ABSTRACT
Up to date, clinical researchers considers that the etiology of the type 2 diabetes mellitus is not known. However, autopsy findings and neurosurgical observations suggests that this disease is a disorder of the anterior hypothalamus and endocrine pancreas, caused by progressive ischemia. Thus, it provoke three primary defects: obesity, insulin resistance and inappropriate insulin secretion. Therefore, in my opinion, these ischemic zones should be revascularized by means of the omentum: 1) omental transposition on the pancreas and 2) omental transplantation on the optic chiasma and the carotid bifurcation.
